How Much Does Epoxy Flooring Cost in Huntington, NY? (2026 Guide)

The published epoxy flooring cost is $4 to $10 per square foot installed in HomeGuide's national survey dated February 3, 2026, and $2 to $12 per square foot in Angi's national data of August 2026; no price survey publishes a figure for Huntington, Suffolk County or Long Island. This page sets the published ranges side by side, each with its survey and its date. They are national figures from price surveys: none is a Huntington price and none is our price. Where a survey prints a "New York, NY" row, that row is New York City, and we call it that. The surveys disagree, so we attribute each figure and do not average them. The table opens with the rate per square foot and three garage sizes; our garage floor epoxy page describes the system behind them. For a price for your own floor, we visit, measure and test the slab, then send a free written quote.

What Changes the Price?

  • Floor size

HomeAdvisor's June 2026 page calls floor size "the primary factor driving the overall cost of epoxy flooring". Area sets the materials and the hours, and the rate per square foot is not the same at every size: HomeGuide's February 2026 polished concrete page says polishing a space under 1,000 square feet often runs $8 to $15+ per square foot, and one over 5,000 square feet may drop to $3 to $6. Those are national figures. We measure the floor before we quote it.

  • The coating

Angi's August 2026 data names resin type, with floor size and surface preparation, as what drives most of the cost, and prices resin per gallon at $30 to $50 water-based, $40 to $55 solvent-based and $45 to $150 solid. HomeGuide's December 2024 garage floor coating cost page prints polyaspartic at $5 to $12 per square foot, polyurea at $5 to $10 and epoxy at $4 to $10. All are national. The moisture reading, the temperature, the room's use and how soon you need it back decide which system we quote.

  • Preparation and repairs

Angi's August 2026 page states that a cracked, chipped or damaged floor must be repaired before epoxy is applied, and prints $25 to $250 for basic concrete patching and about $50 to $100 for acid washing, power washing or etching. HomeGuide's February 2026 epoxy page adds that widespread damage may call for resurfacing first, at $3 to $7 per square foot. These are national figures. Our preparation is diamond grinding, not an acid etch, so ask what preparation each quote includes.

  • Moisture in the slab

HomeGuide's November 2024 concrete coating page prints about $50 to $300 for moisture testing, and its September 2025 polyurea page says testing may add that much "or more if the concrete requires hardening treatments or a moisture barrier". Both figures are national. Before we choose a system we run the moisture test the coating's data sheet names, and a moisture-mitigating primer, where the slab calls for one, appears in our quote on a line of its own.

  • Labor

Nationally, Angi's August 2026 page puts labor at 33% to 60% of the total, or $1 to $7 per square foot, and HomeGuide's February 2026 epoxy page prints $3 to $5. Neither prices Long Island. The federal figures are wages paid to workers, not prices: the Bureau of Labor Statistics' May 2025 release gives construction and extraction occupations a mean hourly wage of $39.49 in the New York-Newark-Jersey City metropolitan area, against $31.42 nationally. That area includes New York City and northern New Jersey, not Long Island alone.

  • Decorative finish

HomeAdvisor's June 2026 page states that "Decorative options raise the overall price". HomeGuide's February 2026 epoxy page says colored flakes and metallic tint cost extra and prints no price for them. Its November 2024 polyaspartic page prints $0.50 to $2.00 per square foot added for decorative flakes, custom colors or patterns, and its September 2025 polyurea page prints 15% to 40% for custom colors, extra flakes, designs, non-slip additives or extra top coats. All are national.

A survey range is a national figure; it cannot see your slab. The area, the moisture reading, the cracks and the finish you choose are read on the floor itself, so our free written quote follows a visit in which we measure and test the slab. The quote puts in writing what is covered and what is not, shows any moisture-mitigating primer on a line of its own and says how sales tax is treated. Where the slab needs rebuilding before it can be coated, our concrete resurfacing page covers the repair materials. The Huntington floor coating data page sets national survey rows beside the federal wage figures and the Suffolk County sales tax rate.

What the price surveys publish, and why none prices Long Island

The prices on this page come from national price surveys, and each survey prints its own range. For the cost per square foot installed, HomeGuide's page dated February 3, 2026, prints $4 to $10; Angi's August 2026 data, $2 to $12; This Old House's March 2026 epoxy floor cost page, $3 to $12 with a professional; Bob Vila's April 2024 page, $3 to $12; and Fixr's January 2025 page, $10 to $15 with labor included. We attribute each figure and do not average them. Read the date on the page, not the year in a title: HomeGuide's polyaspartic page is dated November 18, 2024, though its search result title reads 2026. Read the sources too: Angi says it "surveyed thousands of real Angi customers about their project costs", Bob Vila's page lists Angi, HomeAdvisor and HomeGuide as its sources, and Angi's and HomeAdvisor's garage tables print the same three rows, so two pages that agree may share one source.

No survey publishes a price for Huntington, Suffolk County or Long Island; the places printed on the pages we read are large cities. The city table on Bob Vila's April 2024 epoxy garage floor cost page lists New York City, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles and Miami, with $1,705 to $3,720 for New York City. Angi's page for "New York, NY", updated in July 2026, is a New York City page: it prints $1,690 to $6,760 for a two-car garage of 500 square feet beside its national $1,500 to $6,000. New York City is not Long Island, so we show those rows as what they are and use neither as a Huntington price. HomeGuide's February 2026 basement flooring page names "professional labor rates in your area" among the things its range depends on.

What a floor of your size works out to, shown as arithmetic

For a floor the garage rows do not cover, the working is its area times a survey's rate, shown as arithmetic because no survey prints these totals. A 12x12 room is 144 square feet: at HomeGuide's national $4 to $10 per square foot installed (February 2026) it works out to $576 to $1,440, and at This Old House's national $3 to $12 per square foot with a professional (March 2026) to $432 to $1,728. A floor of 1,000 square feet works out to $4,000 to $10,000 at HomeGuide's rate and $3,000 to $12,000 at This Old House's; one of 2,000 square feet, to $8,000 to $20,000 at HomeGuide's and $6,000 to $24,000 at This Old House's. HomeGuide's own basement row ends at the same point, 2,000 square feet and $20,000. For polyaspartic at HomeGuide's national $5 to $12 per square foot (November 2024), the three floors work out to $720 to $1,728, $5,000 to $12,000 and $10,000 to $24,000.

A small room does not scale down that neatly, because the surveys also print minimum charges. HomeAdvisor's June 2026 page states, on its concrete resurfacing line, that some contractors may charge a minimum fee of $500 to $1,000, and Bob Vila's April 2024 page states that some contractors require a $500 to $1,000 minimum charge. HomeGuide's November 2025 page on concrete cleaning and sealing prints minimum service fees of $150 to $300. Those are national figures, and the arithmetic leaves them out. For a room of that size, the by-location table on HomeGuide's February 2026 epoxy page prints a kitchen of 100 to 200 square feet at $400 to $2,000 installed, also a national figure. A basement adds a moisture question; our basement floor epoxy page covers the tests. None of these totals is a Huntington price or our quote.

How to read a quote: sales tax, the written contract, the license

New York's sales tax on a floor job turns on whether the State counts the work as a capital improvement or as repair, maintenance or installation work. Its Publication 862 puts "Installation or complete replacement of floorings" in the capital improvement column and "Cleaning, stripping, sanding, waterproofing, painting, staining, varnishing and waxing existing floors" in the repair, maintenance, or installation column. In Advisory Opinion TSB-A-03(3)S of January 27, 2003, the Department of Taxation and Finance found that one contractor's epoxy flooring systems "will constitute a capital improvement when installed as a complete flooring system over an existing floor"; an advisory opinion is limited to its own facts. Form ST-124 is the Certificate of Capital Improvement the customer gives the contractor. Publication 718, effective March 1, 2025, lists Suffolk County's combined state and local rate as 8 3/4 percent. Our written quote says how the job is treated for tax; the last word belongs to the State or a tax professional.

A County rule and a State law say what the written contract must hold. Suffolk County Code section 563-21 prohibits the failure to enter into a written contract "which specifies starting and completion dates, description of costs of labor and materials". New York's General Business Law section 771 requires a home improvement contract to be signed by all parties and to give the contractor's name, address, telephone number and license number, if applicable; the approximate dates the work will begin and be substantially completed; a description of the work and the materials, "including make, model number or any other identifying information"; the agreed price; and notice that the owner may cancel until midnight of the third business day after the day of signing. Suffolk County Code section 563-17 requires a County home improvement license and its number in all advertising; ask for it with every quote. Our written contract gives those dates and costs and names the coating products.

Epoxy Flooring Pricing Questions

What is the average cost to epoxy a 2-car garage floor?

A 2-car garage averages $2,200 in Forbes Home's national table, updated February 2025, which puts the low at $1,300 and the high at $3,100. The other surveys print ranges, and they do not assume the same garage: HomeGuide's February 2026 survey prints $1,600 to $5,800 for 400 to 576 square feet; Angi's August 2026 data and HomeAdvisor's June 2026 page, $1,500 to $6,000 for 500 square feet; Bob Vila's April 2024 page, about $1,100 to $4,300 for 360 square feet; and Fixr's January 2025 page, about $5,750 to $8,625 for around 575 square feet. Every one is a national figure. None is priced for Huntington, Suffolk County or Long Island, and none is our price.

How much does 1000 sq ft of epoxy cost?

A 1,000 square foot epoxy floor works out to $4,000 to $10,000 at the national rate HomeGuide printed in February 2026, $4 to $10 per square foot installed. On This Old House's national rate with a professional, $3 to $12 per square foot (March 2026), the same floor works out to $3,000 to $12,000. Both totals are our arithmetic from a survey's rate; neither survey prints them. One survey does print a floor of that size: Fixr's January 2025 page, also national, gives $10,000 to $15,000 for a basement of about 1,000 square feet with a thick coat epoxy, at its own rate of $10 to $15 per square foot. None is a Huntington price or ours.

How much does a 12x12 epoxy floor cost?

A 12x12 epoxy floor works out to $576 to $1,440 at the national rate HomeGuide printed in February 2026, $4 to $10 per square foot installed: the room is 144 square feet. On This Old House's national rate with a professional, $3 to $12 per square foot (March 2026), it works out to $432 to $1,728. Neither total is printed by a survey, and small rooms can meet minimum charges the arithmetic leaves out: Bob Vila's April 2024 page states that some contractors require a $500 to $1,000 minimum charge. HomeGuide's own by-location table prints a kitchen of 100 to 200 square feet at $400 to $2,000 installed. All are national figures, not Huntington prices and not ours.

Is it worth it to epoxy your garage floor?

It depends on what you want from the floor: the surveys price an epoxy coating above floor paint, give solid epoxy a longer life, and disagree on resale value. HomeGuide's November 2024 garage floor painting page, a national one, prints paint at $2 to $4 per square foot, lasting 1 to 5 years, and an epoxy coating at $4 to $10, lasting 3 to 5 years if water-based or 10 to 20 years if solid. Those lifespans are that survey's statements, not ours. On value, Angi's August 2026 page states that an epoxy floor "will not directly increase your home's value", while Forbes Home's national February 2025 page says up to $8 per square foot. Our epoxy flooring pros and cons guide covers what shortens a floor's life.

Why is one epoxy floor quote higher than another?

Two quotes differ when they are not for the same floor: the resin, the preparation, the repairs and the finish each move the price. Angi's August 2026 data, a national survey, prints water-based resin at $30 to $50 per gallon and solid resin at $45 to $150, and puts labor at 33% to 60% of the total. HomeGuide's February 2026 epoxy page advises asking the installer about application methods, "since some are more labor-intensive and expensive". Ask each contractor to put the products, the preparation method and the repairs in writing, and compare those lines before the totals. Our garage floor coating page compares what each chemistry's data sheet says.

Is there sales tax on epoxy flooring in New York?

It depends on whether New York State counts the job as a capital improvement or as installation, repair or maintenance work, the distinction its Tax Bulletin TB-ST-104 sets out. In Advisory Opinion TSB-A-03(3)S, the Department of Taxation and Finance found one contractor's epoxy flooring systems to be a capital improvement "when installed as a complete flooring system over an existing floor", and found that a system applied to part of a floor to repair damaged areas "will generally not be considered a capital improvement"; the opinion is limited to that contractor's facts. Publication 718, effective March 1, 2025, lists Suffolk County's combined state and local rate as 8 3/4 percent. We put the tax treatment in the written quote; the State or a tax professional has the last word.
